Fast-forward and we've arrived, and everything is as advertised.

Managing difficult conversations and conflictThis one hour interactive session is designed to give delegates an opportunity to understand how they can effect different behaviours in others and themselves, when engaged in difficult conversations or moments of conflict.
Through the technique of Forum Theatre, using scenarios specifically written to underpin industry recognisable difficult situations, the team engage delegates in discussion and the redirection of the scenes, leading to greater understanding of the underlying drivers that affect peoples’ behaviour and what we can do to change ours and bring about positive outcomes.
The session is fast paced and interactive, giving delegates the opportunity to engage with one another, work together to find common ground and solutions and observe the real-time impact of their input.
We look at and work with the SLO model: Seek to Understand, Let go & Listen, Open Questions.
Through the demonstration of this and the Iceberg model in action, we discover that there is a bonus to employing these techniques, which is the improvement of our relationships.

Professor Mike Bourne, Cranfield UniversityMike is a Chartered Management Accountant and a Chartered Engineer. He has authored over 100 publications including The Handbook of Corporate Performance Management, Balanced Scorecard, Instant Manager and Successful Change Management in a Week. His research is at the interface of performance measurement with strategic management and control systems. Mike spent fifteen years in business, spanning the valve, paper & board, building materials, machine tool and airline catering industries. He held a number of positions, with roles in production management, strategy and acquisitions, IT, HR, commercial and general management, including directorship positions in subsidiary companies. He gained his PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2001, researching the design and implementation of balanced performance measurement systems. He has spent the last fifteen years working with companies supporting senior management teams through the process of clarifying and executing their strategy. His approach is to take a stakeholder approach to clarify strategy and enabling implementation through alignment of activity to the goals of the organisation.Laura de Poitiers, Financial Controller, Escape Hunt PlcLaura de Poitiers is the Financial Controller for Escape Hunt Plc, a newly formed Experiential Leisure company listed on AIM that is fast becoming the UK’s premium choice for Escape Rooms.Since becoming Chartered Laura has always joined small companies at their beginning, being the first member of the Finance team and traditionally setting up all of the finance processes, systems, controls and reporting. She loves being at the beginning to build something and help it grow, her previous role being at Belu Water, a social enterprise, joining when it was £2.5m revenue and loss-making and seeing it grow to almost £6m revenue and giving £1m per year to WaterAid. Her other roles are voluntary, most notably, Treasurer for Montage Theatre Arts, a children’s arts charity in Deptford, stepping in where one more year would have seen it close doors due to sustained losses, it now turns over £200,000 and has survived despite cuts in arts funding throughout the borough.Melissa Greenwood – Founder MGC LTD, Speaker and FacilitatorMelissa’s career spans Senior Management, Regional and Director roles. Working in Training & Development since 2002, she is an ICF qualified Business & Executive Coach.Melissa amalgamated her professional acting skills with her corporate experience and founded MGC Ltd in 2007. Comprising a highly skilled and experienced team of corporate actors, the company has designed and facilitated hundreds of training programmes with role play and Forum Theatre at their core. Aimed at middle management to C-suite, programmes include Difficult Conversations & Conflict, Relationship Awareness, Impact & Communication, Management & Leadership Development. Delivered globally across many sectors, organisations recently worked with include: ICAEW, HSBC, Thompson Reuters, FCA, Hilton Hotels and Tech & Entertainment companies.Amy Griffith, Finance Business Partner, British CouncilAmy is a Finance Business Partner at the British Council, based in London. She manages the financial aspects of a new entity created in the overseas network. She has also worked on corporate projects including the Government Spending Review. Prior to this, she worked in Myanmar with Save the Children as a Funding and Grants Director coordinating with a large variety of stakeholders. Amy trained as a chartered accountant with PwC, where she focused on the public sector and not for profit sectors, leading audits, undertaking due diligence and managing the Public Sector Building Public Trust Award. She has also been seconded to the National Audit Office.Justine Koos – Actor/FacilitatorJustine read English at Cambridge University before training as an actor and has completed the Management Futures Intensive Coaching Skills course. She has over 17 years’ experience working as a professional Corporate Actor and is a highly proficient and experienced trainer and facilitator. Justine specialises in working one to one on specific skills sets such as Presence, Impact, Presentation Skills, Media Training, Leadership Skills and Confidence. Recent clients include London Trams, OCLC, ANSYS, Interxion, Citygrove and A Former Olympic champion. She co-developed a day-long programme for senior executives at the BBC and has worked on many training programmes covering all areas of development. She joined the MGC team in 2012.Adam Russ – Actor/FacilitatorAdam has worked in Corporate Development and Training since 1999, delivering and facilitating role-play for training programmes for a wide variety of global organisations across the EMEA and APAC regions, Australia and USA. Adam co-designed Hostage a crisis management simulation for teams, wrote and acted in an interactive narrative presentation for Hess and co-wrote and delivered an interactive customer service awareness programme for British Airways. He directed filmed content for Reckitt Benckiser and has presented online training programmes, written speeches for senior executives and co-written and facilitated a 3-day management simulation for Allianz. After the first meeting with the London Fire Brigade in 2005, Kresse launched Elvis & Kresse, which turns industrial waste into innovative lifestyle products and returns 50% of profits to charities related to the waste. Elvis & Kresse’s first line is made from a decommissioned fire hose, 50% of the profits from this line are donated to the Fire Fighters Charity. The company now collects 12 different waste streams, has several charitable partnerships and is involved with collaborations across industries, from fashion houses to FTSE 100 companies etc.
