Travel restrictions and mass cancellations such as hotel bookings, staycations and holidays abroad have caused most hospitality establishments to close and staff to be furloughed, ultimately resulting in the unfortunate uncertainty of whether there will still be jobs for them to return to.

Margaret Laidlaw, Head of Privately Owned Business, Mazars
Margaret is Head of Privately Owned Business in the UK and has spent the last 20 years advising entrepreneurial and SME businesses on everything from strategic growth to the importance of digitisation, exit planning and preparations for sale. Margaret also works with and supports those across the UK on issues including ownership structure, succession, family governance and financial planning helping them achieve success, both in business and for their family. In addition to her UK role, she sits on the international Privately Owned Business Board, a role which provides great insight into privately-owned businesses globally.
Margaret is a Chartered Accountant, as well as a STEP-qualified family business advisor and is a passionate supporter of teams and diversity across the firm.
Ian Goodwin, Director, Mazars
Ian, a Chartered Tax Adviser,joined Mazars in 2017 after 12 years working at a Big 4 firm. He advises a wide range of organisations on reward, employment tax and employment status issues. Ian has presented at various external seminars, as well as being a lead contributor at client events nationally. Heis co-author ofEmployee Benefits & Expenses(Claritax), has also written for Lexis Nexis on Termination Payments and National Minimum Wage, and is a regular contributor of articles published in widely distributed tax journals.
Keith Marshall, Accounting & Outsourcing Partner, Mazars
Keith is a Financial Outsourcing partner based in Edinburgh. Keith specialises in providing outsourcing solutions to entrepreneurial businesses, with a focus on technology solutions, working with stakeholders and owners to understand their business and help to identify the best systems and processes to encourage growth. Keith will often provide surrogate FD sources as part of his role.
Keith has in excess of 20 years of experience working with entrepreneurial businesses, dealing with everything from outsourcing to year end compliance, strategy, assistance with start-up and exit. Keith is also involved in leading the national team to ensure Mazars is always well placed to offer the best solution to entrepreneurial business market.

Pauline Davison, Senior Manager – Accounting & Outsourcing, MazarsPauline Davison is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years’ experience in practice and six years in industry. She led the finance team of wildly successful burger chain Honest Burgers, as they grew from one to 18 sites nationwide. Her combination of practice and industry experience makes her perfectly qualified to oversee the day-to-day financial outsourcing of local businesses. Pauline leads the Leeds financial outsourcing team to advise Privately Owned Businesses and she helps clients in the Yorkshire area to find innovative and digital solutions, from start-ups to more established SMEs.
Fiona Martin, Audit Partner, Mazars
Fiona is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ experience covering all areas of audit, accounting and tax. Fiona is head of external audit for Mazars in Scotland. Working with a wide range of clients and sectors, including those in the hospitality, travel and leisure sectors, Fiona has extensive experience advising successful local and international companies and groups. She is also STEP qualified in advising family businesses.
Alan Frost, Consulting Director, MazarsAlan is a Director in the Business Consulting team at Mazars and has been with the firm for over ten years. Alan has strong experience in working with the private, public and not-for-profit sectors on a wide array of projects with a focus on strategy & planning, project and change management and business performance improvement. Alan is ACA and PRINCE2 qualified with specific expertise in business process improvement, organisation design, project and change management.
Alan advises businesses on structure, controls and processes and works closely with our management information data advisory team ensuring all clients receive a fully integrated service. His main skills lie in managing projects, agile thinking and problem solving.
