Employment taxes update
Audience: Practice/Business

This session will bring those working in payroll and employment taxes up to date for the 2021/22 tax year. It will cover a range of areas and advice, some of which will be determined by changes announced in Spring 2021, but the course is expected to include material on the following topics:

  • Changes in tax and NIC for the new tax year; new processes to implement
  • Changes to the taxation of benefits in kind in the last 2 years; P11D issues to watch for this year
  • Employee expenses – special Covid rules for 2020/21; any other changes to the taxation of expense payments and claims
  • Off payroll working – the practical implications and how best to advise affected businesses
  • 2020/21 compliance review – CJRS claims, Employment allowance and other matters
  • Payrolling benefits – a review

Suitable for: Staff responsible for dealing with payroll both in business and practice. Other professional staff who would like an awareness of the recent changes.

How long will be the webinar be?
The session will be split into two 50 minutes sessions with a 10 minute break in the middle and finishing off with a live 30-minute Q&A.

Part 1 - 50 minutes
part 2 - 1 hour and 20 minutes

Rebecca Benneyworth MBE, BSc, FCA
Rebecca is a chartered accountant with over 35 years experience in practice. She is a writer and consultant on a variety of taxes, and lectures throughout the UK to professionals. She works closely with HMRC on the Making Tax Digital project; and is chair of the Digital Advisory Group; she also sits on HMRC’s Administrative Burdens Advisory Board. Rebecca is a past chair of the ICAEW Tax Faculty, and was named Best Tax Lecturer at the Lexis Nexis Taxation Awards. Rebecca was awarded an MBE for services to the tax profession in 2012. Rebecca will lead our tax programme supported by a team of industry experts.
