HMRC is expecting to lay the Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment Regulations before Parliament in February 2021. This will give effect to the April 2023 start date for MTD for ITSA, as well as confirming many of the requirements (some of the detail will be in tertiary legislation which will follow later).
HMRC is expanding the MTD for ITSA pilot from April 2021. Much of the functionality required to allow more taxpayers to join the pilot was released in December 2020 for software developers to incorporate into their products.
Anita Monteith and Caroline Miskin will discuss where we are on MTD for ITSA and the steps that agents and businesses should consider at this stage.
