Leadership roles within finance and beyond have become increasingly challenging in the last decade. The combination of constant change, an uncertain economic environment and the rapid pace of development in technology have placed ever more pressure on senior leaders. Most will face periods of intense scrutiny alongside huge demands on their time whether from senior colleagues, external stakeholders or team members. This allows little time to pause, to reflect and to ask yourself whether you are being the leader you want to be.

If you would like the opportunity to understand the impact of your leadership, to build your leadership toolkit and to enhance your ability to remain at the top of your game even through tough times, this is the course for you. Through a combination of leadership theory, practical techniques and peer learning, you will be able to identify opportunities to enhance your leadership effectiveness and to increase your own resilience. You will also be able to identify how to build your team’s resilience.

  • Awareness of your own default leadership style and understand its impact and effectiveness in different situations

Who should attend?

Those in senior positions that require true leadership of staff or teams, whether within or outside finance. Ideally delegates will already have led others for at least six to twelve months before attending the course.

What is a virtual classroom?

A virtual classroom provides the same great learning experience as other ICAEW training, except one difference, you can learn from your desk.

Being delivered online makes it so much easier to access in a busy working week and would definitively recommend this type of training. The breakout rooms work really well to allow you to get to know the other participants and share experiences.

The focus is on the learner and creating an enriching classroom experience that connects participants globally. Using video, learners can converse and interact with the trainer and other learners in real-time. Whiteboards, break-out sessions, polls, screen-sharing, and interactive Q&A create an immersive learning experience.

I think the virtual training format using Zoom, and the survey features, and break out rooms, really works great. I had no problems engaging with the facilitator and felt he listened to what we said, and kept the pace of the content moving steadily.

Delegate feedback

Chris is an Executive Coach, facilitator and mentor who primarily works with managers and senior leaders to develop their own authentic leadership style and increase their personal resilience.

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Chris has spent the last 17 years at GSK in a variety of Finance, Marketing, Project Management, Corporate Development and Business Leadership roles. His career journey has taken him to work in Czech Republic and Romania as a Finance Director. Chris made the transition from Finance into Commercial roles a number of times. He was a Brand Manager and later a Business Unit Head (sales and marketing) in Romania and in the UK.

Chris has always been passionate about learning, spotting potential in others and supporting them in their growth and career development. As such, Chris left GSK in 2016 to set up his own company as a full-time coach and facilitator.

As a coach and facilitator, Chris has a calm, supportive presence coupled with the ability to challenge clients to grow into their potential as leaders. Chris delivers training courses for GSK and the MOE Foundation. Chris is a member of the Association for Coaching and has been accredited as an Executive Coach.

Chris has also set up a charitable coaching programme for young people to support their transition from education into the workplace.
