The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) published its proposed standards on general sustainability-related disclosures and climate-related disclosures on 31 March 2022. With the consultation period ending on 29 July 2022, the ISSB’s aim is to finalise the requirements by the end of the year, subject to feedback.

Speakers

Lois Guthrie, Senior Technical Advisor, IFRS Foundation
Lois Guthrie pursued a career in taxation, first at PwC and then at Zurich Insurance Group until 2016. Having joined the Carbon Disclosure Project (now CDP) in 2004, she simultaneously developed a career in climate and natural capital corporate reporting. Lois is the founding director of the Climate Disclosure Standards Board and also worked for the International Integrated Reporting Council as a Technical Director during the development of the <IR> Framework. Lois was a director at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development for five years. She joined the IFRS Foundation in February 2022 as a Special Advisor to the International Sustainability Standards Board. Lois studied theology at the University of Birmingham and environmental policy at the Open University and holds an MSc in Responsibility and Business Practice.

Ravi Abeywardana, Technical Director, IFRS Foundation 
Ravi Abeywardana, qualified Chartered Accountant with ICAEW, was the Technical Director at the Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB) before being consolidated under the IFRS Foundation. He is closely involved in the establishment of the International Sustainability Standards Board, which is aimed at accelerating the convergence of global sustainability standards. Previously, Ravi held management positions in industry, within both finance and corporate sustainability departments. He operates across multiple geographies, covering capital markets, corporate reporting and disclosure within both finance and sustainability departments. Ravi has a demonstrated global understanding of business, corporate disclosures and driving action towards a global sustainable future where business plays a central role. Ravi holds a first-class geography degree from the University of Liverpool.
