Event information

A growing number of jurisdictions are moving to bolster due diligence obligations on companies to enhance accountability around the environmental and social consequences of their operations and those of their supply chains. Legal changes being discussed in some regions, including the EU, may increasingly push the burden of responsibility – and associated liability – for upholding social rights and ensuring environmental protection from countries to companies operating in high-impact sectors. Such measures are likely to entail important changes to the roles and responsibilities of company directors and may eventually affect the ability of companies to place goods on markets.

Join us to discuss whether the trend towards greater due diligence could be a game changer for companies’ supply chains. Against the backdrop of ongoing and widespread disruption to supply chains, what steps can companies take to start to identify, prevent, mitigate and end any adverse social and environmental impacts? Can greater supply chain due diligence bring benefits as well as costs? What are the expectations of other key actors in the trading chain, including finance providers? How should finance and audit teams – as well as audit and risk committees – prepare for changing regulatory requirements?

Mark Billington, Managing Director, International, will be introducing the event and Peter van Veen, Director, Corporate Governance & Stewardship, will be chairing the panel discussion.
