This course will appraise attendees on recent changes to tax law and other recent developments and any relevant recent tax case law decisions. It will also cover topical areas of interest at the time including Spring Statement announcements and highlight any tax planning opportunities arising.

CONTENT:

The course will aim to make participants aware of developments in direct taxation over the last six months and issues of current concern, together with highlights of any tax planning opportunities available.

The course will review:

  • Tax announcements in the latest Budget
  • Key practical implications of Finance Bill 2023
  • New measures taking effect from 2023/24
  • End of tax year planning
  • Recent Tax cases
  • HMRC pronouncements

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is specifically designed to meet the needs of general practitioners and those staff who work in tax, concentrating on matters that really affect your clients.

**BBH COURSE VOUCHER SCHEME

Five pre-purchased electronic course vouchers are available for ICAEW members to purchase. Once purchased, ICAEW members may allocate their use to non-members if they choose.

The 2023-2024 vouchers are available to purchase from 1 October 2022 for £360 + VAT and are valid to use on BBH half-day courses taking place until 31 March 2024

Vouchers can be purchased using a credit or debit card at icaew.com/bbhcoursevouchers. A unique code will be issued which can be redeemed when booking online against five half-day places on BBHSCA courses. Vouchers can only be purchased by ICAEW members, but can be redeemed by any individual, including all staff.

Pat Nown

Pat joined Mercia in 2008 as a tax consultant lecturer bringing a wealth of experience with her.

She originally trained and worked in the profession for Ernst & Young, Grant Thornton and KPMG before moving to the University of Derby as their senior tax lecturer. Her time at Derby included undergraduate and professional tax training as well as being involved in examinations and publishing projects for ACCA and other professional bodies.

This led to a ten-year period with the Financial Training Company now Kaplan where she was Tax Product Director for the Midlands as well as becoming well known as a prominent exam-based tax lecturer. She was also involved during this time with significant publishing projects for the company and other professional bodies.

Over her career Pat has been actively involved in the tax professional bodies including serving as a Council member for 12 years for the Association of Taxation Technicians.

Her role at Mercia involves writing and presenting CPD courses both online and face to face, conferences, workshops, and apprenticeship programmes. She has developed an impressive portfolio over the last 15 years including personal and capital taxes, trusts, employment, and owner managed business with a particular focus on practical issues and clarity. She also advises on practical technical tax support queries for a range of clients.

Delegates who attend both the physical morning and afternoon Tax and Financial reporting updates will be provided with a free lunch.

Refreshments will also be provided on arrival and again mid-way through each course.

CANCELLATIONS AND LATE BOOKINGS
If you cannot attend you can transfer your place to another individual. Places can be transferred at any time up to and including the day of the event.

Cancellations received less than 14 days before the event date will not be refunded. All cancellations must be made in writing to events.information@icaew.com

If BBHSCA cancels the event, the liability in the event of cancellation is limited to a full refund of the fee.

If a booking is received less than 7 days before the course, the delegate may not get a copy of the notes on the day.

BBHSCA reserves the right to change the timing of the programme, the speakers, the date or the venue of the courses advertised. The content of individual courses may be subject to variation.
