As a finance team leader, you are expected to lead and motivate your team while managing expectations from above to meet business deadlines and financial targets. This course will arm you with the people management skills required to build a high performing finance team.

From setting the right priorities and linking finance to the overall business strategy, to delivering effective feedback on performance and developing your people, this course covers the key aspects of team management. You will learn about what motivates your staff and how to keep them performing at their technical and personal best in your collective pursuit of organisation, finance and team goals. You will also leave with a variety of techniques for managing challenging conversations with your team, both as a group and individually.

The concepts explored will be brought to life with interactive tasks, practical exercises and tangible examples, so you can clearly relate the theory to your day-to-day role.

What is a virtual classroom?

A virtual classroom provides the same great learning experience as other ICAEW training, except one difference, you can learn from your desk.

Being delivered online makes it so much easier to access in a busy working week and would definitively recommend this type of training. The breakout rooms work really well to allow you to get to know the other participants and share experiences.

The focus is on the learner and creating an enriching classroom experience that connects participants globally. Using video, learners can converse and interact with the trainer and other learners in real-time. Whiteboards, break-out sessions, polls, screen-sharing, and interactive Q&A create an immersive learning experience.

I think the virtual training format using Zoom, and the survey features, and break out rooms, really works great. I had no problems engaging with the facilitator and felt he listened to what we said, and kept the pace of the content moving steadily.

Delegate feedback

Chris is an Executive Coach, facilitator and mentor who primarily works with managers and senior leaders to develop their own authentic leadership style and increase their personal resilience.

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Chris has spent the last 17 years at GSK in a variety of Finance, Marketing, Project Management, Corporate Development and Business Leadership roles. His career journey has taken him to work in Czech Republic and Romania as a Finance Director. Chris made the transition from Finance into Commercial roles a number of times. He was a Brand Manager and later a Business Unit Head (sales and marketing) in Romania and in the UK.

Chris has always been passionate about learning, spotting potential in others and supporting them in their growth and career development. As such, Chris left GSK in 2016 to set up his own company as a full-time coach and facilitator.

As a coach and facilitator, Chris has a calm, supportive presence coupled with the ability to challenge clients to grow into their potential as leaders. Chris delivers training courses for GSK and the MOE Foundation. Chris is a member of the Association for Coaching and has been accredited as an Executive Coach.

Chris has also set up a charitable coaching programme for young people to support their transition from education into the workplace.
