Becoming an Audit RI

Making the transition from audit manager to responsible individual (RI) is a challenging one. A different set of competencies needs to be developed and the process needs to be handled carefully, both by the individual and the firm. This seminar highlights the practical steps to take to ensure that the progression is smooth and successful. It is crucial viewing for new and aspiring RIs - and those who manage them:

• The application process – key tips and traps
• Managing the transition – clients, mentoring, key checks and balances
• Key decisions required of RIs – and how to approach them
• What ‘professional scepticism’ means and where new RIs can fall short of the mark
• Areas of the audit where the RI needs to be hands-on – and what they need to document
• Managing the team effectively – not too much; not too little

CPD hours: ICAEW’s CPD Regulations are changing. From 1 November 2023, members and other professionals regulated by ICAEW will need to complete a minimum number of hours’ CPD per year, some of which will need to be verifiable. Attending events like this could contribute to 2 hours and 10 minutes of verifiable CPD, so long as you can demonstrate that the content is relevant to your role.

Peter Herbert FCA
Peter is a chartered accountant. He has a professional practice background and has 20 years’ training experience, specialising in financial reporting, auditing and company law, as well as commercial awareness and business skills. Peter is a founding director of Insight Training. He has a small practice, providing advice to mid-tier and small accountancy practices on aspects of accounting, auditing and practice regulation.

How are the courses delivered?
All the Essentials CPD courses are run by live webinar on Zoom. Once the live date has passed the courses are available on demand.

How long will be the webinar be?
Total running time for the live webinars is 2hours and twenty minutes.

The live webinars are split into two 50 minute sessions with a 10 minute comfort break in between and ending with a 30 minute Q&A session with the speaker.

How do I attend a live webinar?
Once you've booked on you will receive an email with your booking confirmation, one week before the live event you will receive the zoom registration link and further joining instructions.

How do I access the course notes?
The course slide deck will be shared with the Zoom link.

What if I miss the live date?
The live webinar will be recorded and offered on-demand 24-48 hours after the live course.

Can I watch the recording after attending the live course?
No, delegates can either attend the live session OR have access to the on demand recording, not both.

The above discounts shown are automatically applied at the time of booking.

The discounts are valid for individuals booking more than one course at a time or corporate bookings where more than one delegate from the same organisation is booked onto the same course.
