Event Information

"The UN Global Goals offer a vision of the world that I believe people in Scotland share. The national and international dimensions to poverty and inequality are interlinked. Scotland cannot act with credibility overseas if we are blind to inequality here at home. And our ambitions for a fairer Scotland are undermined, without global action to tackle poverty, promote prosperity and to tackle climate change."

With a long-term commitment to environmental, economic, and social innovation and natural heritage, Scottish organisations can reap the benefits of delivering sustainability, reducing costs and increasing long term value.

Event Information

The Business Purpose Commission for Scotland set out a vision that, by 2030, all businesses in Scotland will be purposeful and will profit from finding solutions for people and the planet.

This series of virtual presentations and roundtable discussions will provide an in-depth understanding of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to enable you to support your organisation’s discussions on sustainability and align your contribution to the internationally- recognised standards. You will have a clear overview of the UN SDGs and an opportunity to discuss the fundamental role of Chartered Accountants in their delivery. We will give meaningful consideration of how members in Scotland can start to progress their ESG reporting.

At the heart of the discussion, we will be understanding the dichotomy between the longer-term benefits of knowing and aligning with the SDGs, and the short-term issues around survival for many SMEs that dominate the corporate landscape in Scotland.
