Event Information

Many organisations are reluctant to implement decarbonisation strategies through energy efficiency or demand reduction initiatives as they often come with a perceived hefty up-front cost. The current energy crisis has sent business energy bills through the roof and made the case for decarbonising all the more appealing. But how affordable is the path to net zero? And what funding is available to businesses? These are the questions that will be answered at this in person event.

This event will explore how affordable it is to decarbonise your operations and the support available, including financial aid, for your business. Aimed primarily at small and medium-sized entities, it will provide business members with insights to help improve how they manage their operations and take steps towards decreasing their carbon footprint in a cost effective manner.

Key benefits

  • Come away with practical guidance on net zero
  • Network with other members in business
  • Learn about funding options for your organisation

About the speakers

Dr Chris Taylor, Net Zero Programme Director, Broadway Initiative
Chris leads the delivery of www.zerocarbonbusiness.uk, a leading portal for free advice for UK SMEs on energy saving and net zero. Zero Carbon Business is a shared endeavour of the UK’s main business organisations, energy networks, high street banks and professional bodies, delivered by the Broadway Initiative. Chris has worked for more than 20 years across research and policy development for environmental sustainability and developing information and data technology products and tools for businesses, central and local government.

Mark Sait, CEO, SaveMoneyCutCarbon
Mark is often called a disruptive entrepreneur, with a track record of moving new technologies into the mainstream to help solve big problems. SaveMoneyCutCarbon is his latest successful venture, helping to solve the biggest problem of all: saving the planet. Mark is recognised as the go-to person for commentary on the UK sustainability and carbon reduction market; he frequently appears on the BBC, Talk Radio and across print media, and regularly sits on panels among a range of sectors striving to reduce their carbon footprint. When asked about his company Mark replies, “it’s simple; our promise is in our name.”

Will Kirk, Head of Operations, Forster Communications
As Head of Operations & Finance and with a background in financial management, Will is responsible for ensuring Forster meets its impact targets, including compliance with ISO14001 and B-Corp status and engaging suppliers, employees and wider community on that journey. In January 2020, Forster became the first communications agency to publish a Climate Positive Plan and is now actively sharing this with others to highlight the climate emergency and inspire change.
