Event Information

The Valuation Conference offers an opportunity to learn about current developments in business valuation. The broad range of subjects covered should be of interest to all practitioners working in this area.

This year's programme provides you with the option of attending either the full day, morning or afternoon session.

Highlights

  • Economic insight: One of the most popular sessions at our conference is always a summary of the economic backdrop. This year will be no exception. Learn about both UK and global economic trends.
  • HMRC update: Hear the views of Shares and Assets Valuation on three very different fiscal cases covering trade related property, gift aid and the valuation of intangible assets, and the messages to draw from them.
  • Intellectual property: There have been many transactions involving the transfer of intellectual property out of the UK, using OECD pricing rules. HMRC share their view on differences in valuation techniques when applying those rules.
  • Awareness: Learn about the current thinking on premiums for control, discounts for lack of control and discounts for lack of marketability from a valuation expert by reference to a recent Tax Tribunal case.
  • Learning: Growth shares are increasingly used as employment related securities and also as instruments in IHT planning. Hear about the valuation exposure draft issued by the Worked Example Group and responses to it from the profession.
  • Renewable energy: The renewable energy sector, covering wind, solar, biomass and anaerobic, is an engine of growth for the UK economy. Learn how such assets are valued from specialists in this area.
