Join us for guidance from the ICAEW Quality Assurance team on how to ensure your small practice is compliant with the latest Anti Money Laundering regulation, exploring the recent changes to the regulations so that you are fully up to date and ready for the changes ahead.
The way you report your Suspicious Activity Reports is changing - we will guide you through the changes and share our understanding of the money laundering risk landscape, risks in relation to covid aid schemes, sanctions evasions techniques, higher risk countries and industries. We discuss how you can quickly apply open-source checks to further verify clients and enhance risk assessment and mitigation.
Learn about emerging risks and the impact of the Economic Crime Bill, and get insight into how ICAEW supervises member firms and what you can expect from future reviews - a review will assess effectiveness of your customer due diligence, so we will explain in this session what effective looks like and how to spot risks and red flags, such as complex business structures, opaque structures, and higher risk business activities.
Sandy Price, AML Manager, ICAEW Professional StandardsSandy Price originally trained with Ernst & Young, where she qualified as a chartered accountant. She then had operational roles in industry, including a few years at the BBC. This was followed by a stint as a sole practitioner which helped her to appreciate the many challenges faced by smaller firms. After 14 years as a QAD reviewer she now works in the AML supervisory team at ICAEW. Although her role does encompass monitoring firms' compliance with the money laundering regulations, a large chunk of it is dedicated to providing guidance to our member firms.
Roz Harrington, Senior Practice Manager, ICAEWAn experienced engagement strategist and programme manager, Roz works to help practitioners succeed by providing them with access to skills, knowledge and tools to service their clients across the business and wider community.
