  • Enhancing the testing approach – The webinar will cover the expectations and challenges faced during audit testing in respect of walkthroughs, documentation of systems and controls and the robustness and integrity of the audit evidence
  • Get up to speed with topical areas, for examples areas of technical interpretation, quality control and breach reporting.

This webinar will help support you though the technical requirements around CASS audits. This is an area where there are specific requirements set out by the respective regulators and the event seeks to bring together the important points you need to understand to do a CASS audit.

About the speakers

Jim Feasby, Head of Department - Resolution Strategy and CASS at Financial Conduct Authority
Jim has a background in client assets, where he has lead teams of supervisors [for five years] but also teams working on the resolution of insolvent firms with a focus on the return of client funds from CASS and payments/e-money firms.
He also has significant experience of corporate finance regulation and market abuse from leading teams in the FCA’s Market Oversight division. Before joining the FCA, he worked in tax consulting at EY. ​ 

James Edwards, Deloitte
James Edwards is a Senior Manager at Deloitte with over 10 years of experience in audit and financial services, specialising in the UK CASS regime. He works with a diverse range of banking and capital markets clients, from large multinational institutions to smaller brokers, dealers and fintech firms on CASS matters as part of CASS audits and other assurance projects.
James is responsible for quality within the CASS practice at Deloitte, including Deloitte’s CASS methodology under the FRC’s CASS Assurance Standard. He helps to shape and drive the CASS quality agenda for the firm, which ensures that the CASS practice consistently delivers high-quality services to clients.

 

Mduduzi Mswabuki, Partner, Financial Services and Partner Sponsor, EY
Mduduzi is a Partner for EY UK with over 20 years’ experience in assurance and consulting practice. He is focused on helping clients in the Banking and Capital Markets sector to deliver on their regulatory and strategic priorities and to achieve their growth ambitions. Mduduzi is co-chair for Diversity and Inclusion and also the Partner Sponsor for the EY Race & Ethnicity Network (REN), a powerful forum for people to share their lived experiences with colleagues in a candid and honest way.
He is a chartered accountant and holds an accounting sciences degree from the University of South Africa.

Shermeen Kazmi Partner, Grant Thornton
Shermeen has over 20 years’ experience in the audit practice and is a dedicated financial services specialist, with experience across multiple sectors including FCA regulated businesses, with particular focus on CASS and Safeguarding.

She is a technical and quality assurance specialist, with extensive experience of risk identification, assessment, and monitoring in relation to FCA’s laws & regulations impacting regulated firms. She leads the development and delivery of regulatory assurance propositions, including CASS and Safeguarding.

Shermeen acts as Chair of ICAEW CASS and Safeguarding working party.

Polly Tsang
Prior to joining the ICAEW, Polly specialised in structured finance and asset backed securitisation at PwC, helping firms raise debt market funding and buy/sell asset pools. She qualified as an ACA with PwC London within investment management and banking and capital markets. She is interested in exploring the risks and opportunities in regulating financial services in the post-Brexit landscape, particularly in evolving areas such as ESG, cryptoassets and AI.

Edward Westrip
Edward works in Mazar’s financial services practice, where he works on CASS with clients across multiple sectors and business models. He is responsible for Mazars’ policies and the practical aspects of developing methodology, the training of staff and internal ‘licensing’ of staff for CASS related work.
