Financial models have become the most important decision-making tools in finance, particularly as companies need a clear picture of their financial trajectory during periods of disruption and uncertainty. Financial modelling plays an integral role in decision making with modelers informing key transactions and critical business decisions.

Financial Modeling Institute's AFM accreditation enables you to strengthen your financial modelling acumen.

Why pursue the AFM accreditation?

  1. Validation of expertise: The AFM is the only modeling accreditation that validates your ability to construct a comprehensive 3-statement model of a company from scratch, showcasing your proficiency in financial modelling.
  2. Enhanced decision-making: Become an expert in creating financial models that guide accurate and informed decisions, providing invaluable insights for stakeholders.
  3. Effective communication: Learn to use financial models as compelling communication tools, helping you convey a company's story with clarity and impact.
  4. Valued skills: Demonstrate the technical modelling skills most sought after by employers, clients, and stakeholder.

Exams are proctored and offered online four times a year.

About Financial Modeling Institute:

Financial Modeling Institute (FMI) is the world's only financial modelling accreditation body. FMI promotes awareness, excellence and discipline in financial modelling globally through its experiential exams and accreditations.

The Institute was founded in response to the growing demand for accounting and finance professionals to strengthen and validate their financial modeling skills.

FMI’s goal is to elevate the discipline of financial modeling through rigorous testing, in order to facilitate optimal decision making.

Why should accounting professionals pursue the AFM accreditation?

Financial modelling skills are necessary for accounting professionals who build forecasts because financial models are used extensively to drive decisions in all financing transactions.

With an FMI accreditation, accounting professionals are able to demonstrate that they have the financial modeling skills required to build deal models.

In addition, clients and employers can be confident that transaction risk has been reduced because the modeler on the project possesses the level of skill required to perform the modeling for the transaction.

Any professional who is required to build a forecast for a company, project or department is involved in financial modeling. Financial models are used to make the following critical decisions:

  • planning/forecasting
  • credit
  • capital budgeting
  • investment
  • mergers and acquisitions
  • valuation
