Join us for this joint webinar with CIPFA, to discover the benefits of using Power BI, a technology already adopted by many public sector organisations, to transform public sector data into compelling insights to support decision making.

This webinar brings together the technical expertise of public sector and CIPFA practitioners, who will dive into relevant use cases. You will also learn more about the challenges of adopting a new approach using a tool like Power BI and strategies on how to manage this.

We will also equip public sector professionals tasked with deriving insights from financial and performance data, with knowledge on how to do this using Power BI.

Please note that basic knowledge of Power BI is assumed for this webinar. To learn more about the basics, watch our introductory webinar on how to Harness the potential of Power BI.

About the speakers

Ian Pay, Head of Data Analytics and Tech, ICAEW
Prior to joining ICAEW in March 2022, Ian worked for over 10 years at PwC in Data Analytics, specialising in External Audit and Data Acquisition and developing robust and automated ETL processes to support the firm’s award-winning Halo suite of applications. Ian also played an active role in the development and delivery of training courses, with digital upskilling being an area he is particularly passionate about.

David Lyford-Tilley, Head of Standards and Technical, CIPFA
David is CIPFA’s Head of Standards and Technical. He leads CIPFA’s work on public sector standard-setting and technical support via CIPFA’s Networks. He was formerly a Technical Manager in ICAEW’s Tech Faculty, where he wrote and spoke on a wide range of technological topics relevant to accountants in business and practice.

Caleb Ikyernum, CIPFA and Programme Support Officer (Info Mgt/Data Science), IOM - UN Migration
Caleb is a leader in data and information management, with over 10 years of experience across various UN agencies. Currently serving as the Programme Support Officer (Info Mgt/Data Science) at IOM - UN Migration, he has led impactful initiatives like DTM's Baseline Mobility and Community-Based Needs Assessments for over 16,000 Afghan communities. Through innovative tools like Kobo Data Collection and Power BI, Caleb has improved data protection, streamlined operations, and delivered data-driven insights to enhance decision-making.

Samuel Shelver, Data Analyst, CIPFA

Sam is responsible for CIPFA's police and fire data products, providing five dashboards to the Achieving Financial Excellence in Policing programme, and creating a market-leading Financial Resilience Index for police forces.

Sam has a deep understanding of data science, owing to his academic background in economics and extensive experience as an analyst. He has been instrumental in developing CIPFA’s new predictive analytics offering and is responsible for several bespoke data analysis projects.

CPD hours

ICAEW's revised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Regulations bring in new CPD requirements. This includes a minimum number of hours and an ethics requirement. Attending this webinar could contribute up to 1hr of verifiable CPD, providing you can demonstrate that the content is relevant to your role.
