TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course will benefit all those working in practice, especially those with responsibility for compliance with any part of the money laundering regulations. This will include partners, managers, those working on tax, audit, accounting, payroll etc and administrative roles with responsibility for completing ID checks or other parts of the firm’s AML policies and procedures. An initial understanding of the money laundering regulations would be advantageous, but not essential.

CPD hours: ICAEW’s CPD Regulations changed on 1 November 2023. Members and other professionals regulated by ICAEW need to complete a minimum number of CPD hours per year, some of which will need to be verifiable. Attending events like this could contribute 3hrs 15mins of verifiable CPD, so long as you can demonstrate that the content is relevant to your role.

Speaker

Julia Penny FCA

Julia Penny was President of ICAEW in 2022-2023, having been a non-executive ICAEW Board member since 2017 and Chair of the Board during her year as President. Julia is also a member of ICAEW Council (until March 2025) and a past chair of both the ICAEW Technical Advisory and Ethics Advisory Committees, a former member of the Technical Strategy and Financial Reporting Faculty Boards and of the AAT's Council and audit committee.

Outside of this volunteer ICAEW involvement Julia is a well-known speaker and writer on audit, financial reporting, anti-money laundering and wider issues impacting the profession. Julia uses her technical writing skills to provide content for publishers, software companies, and firms or networks wishing to write and implement their own policies and procedures.

Julia is passionate about audit quality, compliance and a well-functioning profession. This includes a sharp focus on improving diversity, developing the use of technology and constantly reflecting on the need for businesses to become sustainable and how the professions can help achieve this.

TERMS & CONDITIONS - CANCELLATIONS AND LATE BOOKINGS

Your booking will be made under the terms & conditions of Beds, Bucks & Herts Society of Chartered Accountants.

If you cannot attend you can transfer your place to another individual.

Places can be transferred at any time up to and including the day of the event.

Cancellations received less than 14 days before the event date will not be refunded. All cancellations must be made in writing to the Society and sent to the Society Administrator at kate.binks@bbhsca.org.uk

If the Society cancels the event, our liability in the event of cancellation is limited to a full refund of the fee.

If we receive your booking less than 7 days before the course, you may not get a copy of the notes on the day.

The Society reserves the right to change the timing of the programme, the speakers, the date or the venue of the courses advertised. The content of individual courses may be subject to variation.

Directions from M1

Come off at Junction 6A (the M25 Junction) and follow the signs to the M25 (East), which takes you in the direction of Dartford & South Mimms. Once on the M25, come off at Junctions 23 which takes you to the South Mimms Services. From here, get onto the A1(M) North towards Hatfield. From here, follow the directions from the A1(M) below.

From the M25 Junction 23 (South Mimms & Services) follow A1(M) North to Junction 4 and follow as below.

Come off at Junction 4 and follow the signs towards Stanborough. Once on the A6129, continue all the way down until you reach the roundabout. Turn right at this roundabout towards Welwyn Garden City. You will pass the County Police Headquarters on your right. Continue going straight up and go straight over the roundabout (2nd Exit). You will pass Gosling Sports Park on your right-hand side. Continue going straight up, you will pass a petrol station on your left. At the next roundabout, turn right (2nd Exit), and at the next roundabout turn right (3rd Exit) towards the QEII hospital. Take the immediate first left down Woodhall Lane. Continue all the way down Woodhall Lane until you reach a T Junction. Turn Left. Go straight over the first mini roundabout, and straight over the second ( 3rd Exit). Take the first right turn, which is indicated by the brown tourist sign which takes you into Homestead Lane. The Hotel is on the left-hand side.

Delegates who attend both the physical morning and afternoon Tax and Financial reporting updates will be provided with a free lunch.

 

Refreshments will also be provided on arrival and again mid-way through each course.
