The importance of this topic cannot be understated, with many attempting to grapple with the complexities of owning and running a healthcare property, as well as everything in between.

Key topics

  • The impact of:
    • buying a partner out.
    • refinancing.
    • extensions and funding.
    • new partners' buy-ins and the pitfalls that practices need to consider.
  • Dilapidation provisions.
  • Revenue vs. capital expenditure.
  • The concept of "partnership property" and client misconceptions.
  • Whether separate property-owning documents are needed.
  • When do you need a lease, and when can you do without?
  • Partnership deed approaches to partners' entitlement post-retirement.
  • Impact of the goodwill rules on valuations.
  • Valuation disputes such as do we still need option notices?
  • No SDLT on transfers between partners. SDLT on merger of freehold practices?
