Event information

2025 and beyond will see big changes and unprecedented scrutiny as regulatory frameworks, such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), and Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), come into force.

October’s UK budget confirmed the introduction of an equivalent UK CBAM starting in 2027 with companies importing £50,000 or more of CBAM goods needing to comply.

The new regulations will emphasise how products are made, tracing the origins, deep into the supply chain. UK businesses trading with the EU will need to be aware of what data their EU customers will require and how their business may need to evolve to remain competitive.

Don’t get caught out by the transitional arrangements and key dates.

Join us to find out:

  • How EUDR and CBAM will work
  • The impact of the regulations on UK businesses
  • Key dates to be aware of
  • Risks of not complying
  • What comes next

Key benefits

  • Gain an understanding of the new regulations.
  • Hear from experts in the field.
  • Start planning in time for transitional arrangements.

About the speakers

Ed Saltmarsh, Technical Manager VAT and Customs, ICAEW Tax Faculty

Ed joined the Tax Faculty in 2022 focussing on VAT and duties, as well as other indirect taxes. Ed qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor in 2017, specialising in indirect taxes, and also has qualifications in customs duties and tax technology. He was previously a senior manager in the VAT team at BDO, where he worked for more than seven years.

Andrew Thurston, Customs Duty Consultant, MHA

Andrew volunteers for ICAEW’s Global Trade Advisory Group and the Tax Faculty’s Customs and Excise Group. He joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson as Customs Duty Consultant in October 2019, from HMRC where he gained valuable experience liaising with all sizes and sectors of companies within the UK by facilitating customs procedures and assessing compliance. During his 15 years working in HMRC Andrew audited companies across sectors from retail, manufacturing and exporters who are involved in the supply of goods across global supply chains. Andrew works closely with clients across the Baker Tilly International Network to manage the complexities of customs regimes and identify potential opportunities for supply chain improvements and duty savings.
