About the speakers

Toby York, Founder, Accounting Cafe
Toby is a Chartered Accountant with board-level experience in the for-profit sectors. He is the Research & Development Director at Wealthvox, a training company that owns and licenses the Colour Accounting Learning System for use in financial education workshops in commercial and academic settings. In 2021, he founded Accounting Cafe, a community for accounting educators and learners to find and share their best ideas. Accounting Cafe provides resources, videos, courses, seminars, and workshops and is a place for discussion and debate. Toby sits on the ICAEW Academia & Education Community advisory group and is a member of the Employer Validation Panel for T Level in Accounting.

Jenni Rose, Head of Employability AMBS and Senior Lecturer, Alliance Manchester Business School
Jenni is a multi-award winning Senior Lecturer, dialogic teacher and keen supporter of enabling others to develop intellectually so that they can flourish in the future. She qualified as an Accountant with the ICAEW when working in Audit with KPMG in 2008. From this she went on to teach in the KPMG Learning and Development team and then to accounting and wellbeing teaching as a freelancer. Jenni joined academia in 2015 and the main focus of her teaching at the University is in undergraduate auditing, financial reporting and financial statement analysis, as well as on the MBA. Her pedagogical research is focused on students writing feedback for themselves and in embedding sustainability into her teaching. She has also written and facilitated career adaptability workshops under her own brand of Vivere Workshops, working with CABA, Telefonica and Grant Thornton. Topics range from drive and resilience, using emotional intelligence, flourishing at work, work life integration and smart hacks for exam success. All of her teaching sessions are highly interactive with discussions, activities and an encouragement to open and honestly connect. She is passionate about training business leaders in the present and of the future to flourish, feel empowered to take control of their lives and enabled to fulfill their potential.

Chris Cowton
Chris is Emeritus Professor at the University of Huddersfield, where he served as Professor of Accounting (1996-2016), Dean of the Business School (2008-2016) and Professor of Financial Ethics (2016-2019). He previously taught at Aberystwyth (1980-1982), Cardiff (1982-1986) and Oxford (1986-1996). On retiring to London, he took up a part-time role as Associate Director of the Institute of Business Ethics (IBE), where he remains an Associate. He retired - again - from the IBE in 2023, but continues to be academically active and to engage with business, government and professional bodies in various ways. Although not a Chartered Accountant, he has a long involvement with the Institute's work on ethics: he gave the P.D. Leake Lecture in 2007; he was a member of the Ethics Standards Committee, 2009-2018; and he is the architect and main writer of the ICAEW's online ethics CPD course, which was launched in November 2023. He was awarded the University of Huddersfield's first DLitt in 2013 and the BAFA Life-time Achievement Award in 2023.

Judy Dimmock FCA, Head of Accreditation, ICAEW
Judy is a a qualified Chartered Accountant (FCA). She currently works for ICAEW in Learning and Professional Development, working with the education sector and specialising in accreditation.

Aidan Ward Hendry, Academic Education Manager, ICAEW
Aidan has over 5 years of recruitment experience, specializing in sourcing talent for both entry-level and senior roles across the fashion and broadcast industries. Having worked with prestigious companies such as Ralph Lauren, Sky, Formula One, and Warner Brothers, Aidan brings a wealth of expertise in talent acquisition. Transitioning into the professional services sector, Aidan spent 2 years at ICAEW, focusing on early careers and research aimed at supporting students on their journey to becoming chartered accountants. Today, Aidan is responsible for managing ICAEW’s global relationships with Partner in Learning Higher Education Institutes, ensuring they have the resources and support to help students.

CPD hours

ICAEW's revised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Regulations bring in new CPD requirements. This includes a minimum number of hours and an ethics requirement. Attending this webinar could contribute up to 1 hour of verifiable CPD, providing you can demonstrate that the content is relevant to your role.
