Join us and our speakers Kieran Maguire, academic, author, broadcaster and co-host of ‘The Price of Football’ podcast; Jonathan Brown, Senior Managing Director - Risk, Forensics & Compliance, Ankura Consulting (Europe) Limited; Dame Caroline Dinenage DBE MP, Member of Parliament for Gosport; and Adam Crockett, Head of Football Regulation Policy, Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

We will cover key issues shaping the future of the sport, such as:

  • The Football Governance Bill: introduction, need, and fan-led initiatives.

ICAEW's revised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Regulations bring in new CPD requirements. This includes a minimum number of hours and an ethics requirement. About the speakers

Kieran Maguire, Chartered Accountant, Academic, Author, Broadcaster, Presenter of The Prince of Football Podcast
Kieran is a chartered accountant who has been involved in financial education since 1989. He specialises in blending digital technology with teaching, have been fortunate enough to win the UK's best finance lecturer award, as well as a number of local teaching and innovation prizes in both Liverpool and Manchester. His loves his football team, The Smiths, his dogs, Marmite, The Jam, Joy Division and his wife (not necessarily in that order). Kieran has had a number of appearances and interviews on BBC1, BBC News, World Service, Radio 4, Radio 5 Live, TalkSport, as well as local radio and TV stations, and in the printed media world The Times, Sunday Times, The Independent, The Guardian, Liverpool Echo and Manchester Evening News and others talking about general finance and business issues, specialising in sport finance, sports broadcasting rights and the budget. His aim is to take the fear out of numbers, if you can add 2+2 that's all that is required, the rest is just detail.

Jonathan Brown, Senior Managing Director - Risk, Forensics & Compliance
Jonathan Brown is a Senior Managing Director at Ankura based in London and has supported clients exposed to acute reputational and regulatory risk for over 20 years. He has worked for enforcement agencies including the Serious Fraud Office and the UK’s insolvency regulator and also spent a decade in the forensic practice of a Big 4 accounting firm focusing on fraud and corruption investigations. Jonathan has expertise in sports advisory services and has undertaken investigations, compliance reviews and transaction support for clients across multiple sports. In addition he is appointed to the Panel of Arbitrators & Mediators at Sport Resolutions, the UK’s independent dispute resolution service for sport, and holds a compliance advisory roles for a UK sports governing body.

Dame Caroline Dinenage DBE MP, Chair of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee and Member of Parliament for Gosport.
Caroline has been the Conservative Member of Parliament for Gosport since 2010. She was a Minister from 2015-2021, including the Minister for Digital and Culture in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport. In 2023 Caroline was elected as Chair of the Culture, Media, and Sport Committee, and returned to the role after the 2024 General Election. In that role she has chaired Committee inquiries including into British Film and High-End TV, Grassroots Music Venues, and Community and School Sport. Caroline has long called for the establishment of a football regulator following the publication of the Fan-Led Review of Football Governance, chaired by Tracey Crouch MP, in November 2021.

Adam Crockett, Head of Football Regulation Policy, Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
Adam is a policy expert with a background in economics, competition policy and regulation. He worked on the Independent Fan Led Review of Football Governance, and led on the Government’s Football Governance White Paper. In his current role, he is responsible for overseeing the passage of the forthcoming Football Governance Bill through Parliament. Adam has worked on policy across competition law matters in technology industry as former Head of Digital Competition at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). He was previously in policy and enforcement roles at the energy regulator Ofgem and before that as an economist in regional Government.
