Who should attend?

  • Finance Directors or Chief Finance Officers within large UK and multi-national organisations, and across all commercial sectors
  • Those who hold senior financial roles with a FD level of responsibility, within small and medium sized UK businesses, and across all commercial sectors
  • Senior finance professionals below main board or C-suite level moving into their first Finance Director or Chief Finance Office role

Why should I attend?

These sessions are confidential, allowing participants the opportunity for open discussion, to seek advice on common issues and to pose questions to like-minded professionals working at a senior level.

It is an opportunity to strengthen your professional networks, forge new business relationships, seek insight from fellow professionals, and to hone your commercial & technical skills to strengthen your capabilities as an ever-evolving finance professional.

It is also the perfect forum for those with the responsibility of a Finance Director but who may, due to the business’ size or structure, be the only senior finance professional within the organisation – and who would benefit from having a trusted network of fellow professionals in similar roles to call on for advice, guidance, and peer-to-peer support.

With delegates joining from across the North East region and engaging in open, lively, and insightful topics of discussion each time, the group brings together senior ACA & FCAs from across an interesting breadth of industries and backgrounds, to encourage the sharing of experience, open learning, collaboration, networking, and peer-to-peer support.

While there is typically no set agenda for these meetings, unless requested by delegates, the meetings are facilitated to encourage active participation from all attendees. We welcome your ideas and suggestions for topics to be discussed during the sessions. Here are some suggested topics for discussion, but feel free to propose any other relevant subjects:

  • Outlook for the UK & regional economies; trends, opportunities, and challenges
  • UK and local Government policy & infrastructure
  • Sector-focussed discussions and common themes
  • The role of the FD & how to evolve
  • Shaping the strategy as an FD/CFO
  • Financial management, reporting & cost controls
  • Investor reporting & managing investor relationships
  • ESG reporting
  • Sustainability & environment responsibilities
  • Managing the CEO, shareholders, and stakeholders
  • Strategic funding
  • Risk, compliance & legal
  • Succession planning
  • Learning & CPD – staying ahead

If you work in business or industry and have a topic which you would like to be discussed at one of the meetings please email Joanne Lucking to ensure that it is included within the agenda.
