Who should attend?

  • All members, from all levels of seniority, working in businesses operating in the sector, both in financial and non-financial roles across the organisation
  • Key decision makers, as well as non-executive directors, from within the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber region’s businesses, who are managing and driving growth
  • All members, from all levels of seniority, working in businesses in the supply chain and supporting sectors, including, but not limited to: -

Discussion topics to include

  • What impacts are being observed as a result of current geopolitical uncertainty (e.g. declining consumer confidence and demand)?
  • What other effects have tariffs had, and what mitigation strategies are being implemented?
  • Price pressures from lower-cost imports into the EU from China due to reduced US demand.
  • Relocation of manufacturing operations.
  • Dual sourcing or relocation of component production to change country of origin; market exits, etc.
  • Measures being taken to improve productivity and counteract inflationary pressures.
  • Investment in automation and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Access to funding or grants to support competitiveness through investment.
  • Desired government support to enable investment and drive growth.
  • Ability to pass cost increases on to customers.

Why should I attend?

All discussions are confidential, allowing participants the opportunity for open discussion, to seek advice on common issues and to pose your questions to like-minded and supportive fellow professionals.
 
Whilst there will typically be no set agenda for these meetings, unless by delegate in the conversation, members are encouraged to bring their ideas to the session and to contribute to the setting of topics for future discussions.

If you would like to bring specific items to the table for discussion, delegates should send their requests for the event organiser in advance.

About the chair

Stratton Brock | VP Finance | Global Supply Chain Transformation at Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.

Stratton was brought up in Sheffield living in Aston and attending Aston Comprehensive, where he met his future wife Michelle, before attending Loughborough University where he received a BSc in Accounting & Financial Management.

After graduating he joined KPMG in Sheffield , qualifying as a Chartered accountant in 1996 before moving into industry and working in both the Manufacturing and Technology sectors including roles in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Chesterfield and Barnsley. He joined Stanley Black & Decker in 2001 where he has held various finance roles, currently as Vice President Finance, Global Supply Chain Transformation. In this time he has spent 12 of those years living with his family in Belgium & Singapore, enjoying international roles and visiting operations in over 30 countries.

On returning to the UK and settling back in Sheffield he joined the Sheffield & District Society of Chartered Accountants (S&DSCA) as Vice President in 2023 becoming President in July 2024 and Chairman of the newly formed ICAEW Sheffield network board.

Stratton loves sport having competed at county or national level in Swimming, Hockey & Biathlon. He is an Owl and takes great please in being at Hillsborough for the Boxing day Massacre and Wembley for the Owls victory over the Blades in the 1993 FA Cup Semi Final (we won’t mention the next 30 years). Sporting interests later turned to Cycling, Skiing and Tennis but his favourite pastime is spending time with his Wife, two children Josh & Hannah and friends.
