About the speakers

 

Simone Taylor-Allkins | Technical Advisory Services Manager | ICAEW

Simone started her career in audit and management accountancy, qualifying in a mid-tier firm, before moving to a larger firm post qualification. Simone soon discovered her passion for training accountancy and has enjoyed sharing her knowledge over the years with people within industry, practice and students studying for their ACCA and CIMA qualifications. Outside work, alongside enjoying time with her husband and 2 children, Simone can be found on stage performing with local musical theatre groups.

 

Martin Wilson | Head of Student Services |North East Business Resilience Centre

Detective Inspector Martin Wilson of Durham Constabulary has 21 years policing experience across various policing roles. Prior to joining the NEBRC, Martin was part of the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit (NEROCU) where he specialised in Cyber Protect, Prevent and Prepare work streams, leading on new and innovative work, helping businesses understand and prepare for cyber-attack. Martin holds an MSc in Cyber Security (with distinction) and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Abertay University, focusing on cybersecurity for small businesses. His research explores how UX-based methodologies can help convey essential cybersecurity insights to providers serving SMEs. Based in the North East, Martin enjoys spending time in the countryside and staying active in his spare time.

Deborah Henning | Head of Employment | Jacksons Law Firm

Deborah has a practical pragmatic approach to employment law and the knowledge and experience to see both sides enabling fully rounded practical advice. A lover of all things French: un peu de vin, du pain et du fromage!
