Event information

From 2026, most leases will need to be recorded on the balance sheet due to changes in FRS 102, which will be reflected in the new Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP).

In this practical session, Naziar Hashemi and Mark Atkinson from Crowe UK will explain the key changes, their impact on charities, and how to prepare for implementation. They will also explore key points from the new lease module in the SORP exposure draft and explain how charity-specific factors (such as below-market-value leases) may affect recognition.

It’s essential for finance professionals working with charities to understand the new reporting requirements, including how to calculate lease assets and liabilities. Even small charities (preparing accrual accounts) may be affected and need to get ready for the changes now.

Key benefits

  • Learn about the upcoming changes to lease accounting for charities
  • Find out what charity-specific aspects to consider.
  • Refresh your knowledge of calculating lease assets and liabilities.
  • Develop an action plan for implementing the changes with confidence.
