Mid-Tier Tech Forum: Analytics in Audit

In 2016, ICAEW released its publication “Data analytics for external auditors”, a major survey of the audit analytics landscape at the time. So what’s changed in the last 9 years?

As we look to publish an updated version of the report later this year, at our Q2 Mid-Tier Tech Forum we’ll be discussing how things have changed, but also looking at what’s stayed the same. With many mid-tier firms engaging in the use of analytics solutions, either from third parties or developed in-house, what has fuelled the adoption of analytics, and what is holding firms back from doing more?

Through a combination of presentations, panels and roundtable discussions, we’ll be exploring all aspects of the role of data analytics in external audit, touching on ways it’s being used throughout the audit cycle, the delivery model, approaches to planning, methodology and documentation, client appetite and the part that audit regulations and standards play in its adoption.

This forum will be a vital opportunity to share reflections on some of our observations, particularly where relevant to mid-tier firms, including attendance from regulators, standard-setters, methodology providers and the ICAEW Audit and Assurance Faculty. In doing so, attendees will be feeding into and helping to shape the new report as it nears publication.

ICAEW's revised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Regulations bring in new CPD requirements. This includes a minimum number of hours and an ethics requirement.
