Event information

At this in-person event, a panel of experienced professionals will share how firms are successfully engaging clients in sustainability conversations and embedding ESG principles into their advisory work. You’ll also explore how technology is enabling firms to scale their sustainability capabilities and drive meaningful change.

Interactive roundtable sessions will give you hands-on experience with the skills, people, and ethical considerations needed to lead sustainable business transformation.

CPD hours

ICAEW's revised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Regulations bring in new CPD requirements. This includes a minimum number of hours and an ethics requirement. Attending this webinar could contribute up to 3 hours of verifiable CPD, providing you can demonstrate that the content is relevant to your role.

About the speakers

Myfanwy Nevillie, Head of Governance and Sustainability, BKL, Chartered Accountants and Tax Advisers
Myfanwy is Head of ESG at BKL, Chartered Accountants and Tax Advisers. Myfanwy specialises in working with property & construction clients, as well as purpose-driven businesses across all sectors. She is developing ESG consultancy as a BKL service, using her auditor's experience of thorough reviews and the knowledge gained through her CISL qualification. She is passionate about sustainability conversations at SME level. As a longstanding member of BKL’s board, Myfanwy has driven BKL’s own Sustainability initiatives - in 2022, BKL became the first Top 100 accountancy firm to achieve B Corporation status.

Joanna Auburn, Founder, Trace
Joanna has spent her career across sustainability and product. She has brought these two passions together to build Trace. Joanna has a first-class Masters in Engineering and began her career in the UK’s first retail energy provider. She has over 10 years’ experience in platform development - building & scaling products globally. At Trace, Jo leads our product development, marketing and UK operations.

Rebecca Trudgett, Founder, Switchfoot Accounting
Rebecca is the founder of B Corp Switchfoot Accounting. Rebecca works closely with small businesses to help them achieve their financial goals whilst also benefiting people and the planet. She is working on a number of projects including setting up a placed based system thinking lab in Surrey to accelerate the green transition, innovation and scale impact in the business and purpose lead community. Co-author of a white paper exploring “what is sustainable professional advice” from a cross disciplinary perspective and is looking to develop further a serviced emission approach.

 

David Gomez, Senior Advisor, Ethics, ICAEW
David is a member of ICAEW’s Trust and Ethics Team. David has extensive experience of developing Codes of Practice and guidance for professional bodies, and liaises with various bodies on ethical issues affecting the profession. David holds an LLM, with a focus on International Environmental Law, and Development.

Julie Smith, Head of Practice, ICAEW
Julie is an ICAEW Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in practice, industry, and education. She supports ICAEW Practice members and member firms by identifying their needs and challenges, delivering tailored solutions, guidance, and events.

Julie drives engagement with practice members, firms and networks, and leads the team responsible for publishing ICAEW’s research on the evolution of mid-tier accountancy firms, providing valuable insights for their growth and success.

Sarah Reay,Climate Change Manager, ICAEW
Sarah sits within the sustainability team at ICAEW and is the technical lead on climate change. She drives the development of know-how to support members in tackling climate issues whether that be in business or practice and engages in policy work to drive meaningful government action. Sarah is also helping to deliver ICAEW’s own internal net zero strategy by engaging with internal stakeholders and ensuring the Institute conforms with best practice. Sarah is the Secretary of the ICAEW Sustainability Committee that brings together experts across business, practice, NGOs, academia and public sector to tackle some of the biggest sustainability issues facing the profession. She also sits on various groups to inform and advise on how professionals can act on climate change, considering capacity building requirements and responding to the ever-changing policy landscape. This includes the Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW) Sustainability Taskforce and the Sustainable Finance Education Charter. Sarah also holds an MSc in Sustainable Development from Queens University Belfast and is the Policy and Advocacy Co-Coordinator for the UK Youth Climate Coalition (UKYCC).

Toby Roxburgh, Sustainability Manager, Nature & Biodiversity, ICAEW
Toby is a member of ICAEW’s sustainability team and leads the institute’s work on nature. He brings over 25 years’ experience in sustainability, including previous roles at Deloitte, WWF and in consultancy. His work focuses on engaging and collaborating with members to help embed sustainability-related issues into risk assessment, strategy, finance and reporting – and sustainable policy and regulation. He is a member of the Global Accounting Alliance Sustainability Working Group, and was formerly a member of several Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) working groups and UK Transition Plan Taskforce Nature Working Group. With a background in environmental sciences, economics, policy and industry, he has experience working with companies, finance institutions, governments and NGOs in Asia, Africa, Americas, Caribbean, Europe and Pacific.
