Date and time

Location

23/10/2025, 09:00 - 17:00 GMT

ICAEW

Generative AI (GenAI) is revolutionising the accounting profession, fundamentally changing how finance professionals perform their roles. This interactive, practical workshop will provide accountants with essential knowledge and hands-on experience to confidently leverage generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and Perplexity AI. You will learn how to craft effective AI prompts, use AI to automate routine accounting tasks, critically evaluate AI outputs for accuracy and ethical compliance, and integrate GenAI-driven insights into your decision-making processes. By the end of the day, you'll be prepared to immediately apply generative AI in your professional role, enhancing efficiency, productivity, and strategic insight.

Learning outcomes:

  • Clearly explain what generative AI is, its relevance, and its transformative impact on accounting tasks and workflows.
  • Confidently construct effective AI prompts using the ICAEW’s structured T.P.C.E.F. model (Task, Persona, Context, Examples, Format) to achieve precise, high-quality AI outputs.
  • Understand and practically apply the 8 Functions of Generative AI (Chat, Search, Analyse, Think/Reason, Code, Remember, Create, Translate) to automate routine financial processes and streamline workflows.
  • Critically evaluate GenAI outputs for relevance, accuracy, clarity, completeness, confidentiality, compliance, and bias, adhering to professional standards and ICAEW ethical guidelines.
  • Perform financial data analyses, including scenario planning and financial benchmarking, using generative AI to enhance speed and accuracy.
  • Recognise future trends in generative AI and proactively identify strategic opportunities, skill gaps, and adoption considerations for their organisations.

Workshop Companion Document

Each participant will receive a branded "Workshop Companion Document" (PDF). This high-value takeaway will serve as a reference guide containing all key frameworks, checklists, and resources covered during the day, including:

  • A glossary of key GenAI terminology.
  • The Eight Functions of GenAI
  • The Five Essential Elements of a Prompt
  • The 8-Point Checklist for evaluating outputs.
  • The 4-Way Match validation framework.
  • The Four Pillars of Analytics summary table.
  • The Six Stages of GenAI Development summary table.
  • Links to relevant ICAEW further reading resources.
