At the same time, business partners increasingly expect faster, deeper, and more actionable insights. Power BI offers the opportunity to automate manual processes, improve accuracy, and deliver self-service reporting that reduces ad hoc requests by up to 80%.

This course equips finance professionals, even those with no prior experience, with the skills to build a fully automated month-end reporting pack in Power BI, freeing up time for higher-value business partnering.

Both beginners and those with some Power BI experience will benefit. Attendees should have hands-on experience of regular reporting so they can apply techniques in their own context.

Technical notes:
• Building reports in Power BI is free, but sharing with business partners requires a paid Microsoft Office license.
• Power BI and Zoom are CPU/memory intensive; performance may be slower during live sessions.
• Building reports live is optional. Models at each stage are provided for exercises on Day 1 and Day 2.

CPD HOURS
ICAEW's revised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Regulations bring in new CPD requirements. This includes a minimum number of hours and an ethics requirement. Attending this course could contribute up to 14hrs of verifiable CPD, including 8hrs for the attending the virtual classroom and completing any additional pre-work or videos as part of the course, providing you can demonstrate that the content is relevant to your role.

Pre-work (6–8 hours)

• Essential preparation before the first live session.

Session 1 – Building the foundation
• Building your Power BI data model.
• Mastering DAX for financial reporting.
• Creating finance-focused reports versus forecasts.
• Instructor-led demonstrations, practice challenges, and quizzes.

Pre-work (1–2 hours)
• Video learning and exercises on report building and advanced DAX features.
• Preparation for the second live session.

Session 2 – From data to insights
• Creating a complete month-end reporting pack in Power BI.
• Adding finance-focused features and techniques.
• Report distribution and integration with Excel and PowerPoint.
• Instructor-led demonstrations, practice challenges, and quizzes.

Is there any pre-work?
Closer to the course start, you will receive an email from Claritix that provides access to the platform and your learning materials.

Once you have access to your Claritix account, you are required to work through video on demand self-led learning with exercises before Days 1 and 2. Allow six hours for pre-work ahead of Day 1 and two hours ahead of Day 2. There is 1 month between sessions.

How are the courses delivered?
All Virtual Classrooms are run live on Zoom. The Month-end in Power BI course is structured into two sessions, with each running for four hours.
These are interactive and delegate involvement is encouraged. There are also online videos to watch before and between the virtual classroom sessions.

When will I receive joining instructions?
Once you have registered for the course, you will receive a confirmation email. A few weeks before the first virtual classroom session, we will contact you with instructions on how to access the Claritix online platform.

Are there breaks?
Each virtual classroom will include a 10-minute comfort break.

How do I access the course slide deck?
A course slide deck is included in the downloadable learning materials on the Claritix platform. Slides will also be presented during the session.

Are the Month end in Power BI courses recorded?
The two live sessions are recorded for those attending to access for one month.

What if I am going to be 15 minutes late?
This is not a problem. Although the classroom starts at the time specified on the booking page, you will be let into the Zoom session if you are delayed for any reason. Trainers do their best to accommodate catch-up, but this is not guaranteed. Where possible please let us know of any delays so we are aware when doing role call the beginning of the session.

Can I have my colleague with me in the live course?
Yes, if you purchase a second place. Each booking is valid for one person only.

Does this course count as verifiable CPD?
Yes, the Month-end in Power BI course could contribute up to 16 hours of verifiable CPD, so long as you can demonstrate that the content is relevant to your role. Additional information about CPD can be found here: Your guide to CPD.

How many people will be on the course?
Virtual Classrooms are designed to resemble a real classroom. Therefore, group sizes vary between 6 – 20 delegates per course.
