WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?
Finance teams are increasingly expected to deliver timely, accurate, and visual insights that go beyond traditional spreadsheets. Power BI provides accountants with a powerful toolset to transform, analyse, and present financial data – but many professionals haven’t yet tapped into its full potential.

This course provides a clear and practical grounding in Power BI’s core capabilities. You’ll learn how to connect to data, clean and model information, and create reports that enhance business understanding and decision-making.

Through hands-on demonstrations and guided exercises, you’ll build confidence in using Power BI’s core features – from Power Query to DAX – and leave ready to apply them to real accounting scenarios.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Understand the Power BI ecosystem and its role in accounting analytics.
• Connect and import data from multiple sources relevant to finance.
• Extract, transform, and load data using Power Query.
• Model accounting datasets and create relationships.
• Build clear, finance-focused reports and visualisations.
• Apply core DAX functions for calculations and measures.
• Publish and share reports securely within your organisation.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
Accounting and finance professionals who want to build practical skills in Microsoft Power BI as part of their professional development or certification journey. No prior experience of Power BI is required, although this course will reinforce learning for those taking the Power BI certification (especially units 2, 3 and 4).

This course will quickly explain the fundamentals before enhancing expertise so that attendees will become skilled in working with data from Excel or other reporting tools, exploiting Power BI’s data cleansing, visualisation and analytical features.
