Event Information

The group provides an informal and essential forum for ICAEW members to explore the current, emerging, and future technologies impacting the accounting profession.

Group focus | Practical and forward-looking

The group addresses practical issues ranging from everyday tool usage to discussions on leading-edge automations and innovations. We aim to help accountants adapt and leverage emerging technologies to stay ahead in today's dynamic business environment.

Additionally, as innovations like generative language models rapidly develop, we aim to demystify AI and similar tools through grounded, judgment-free debate. We welcome perspectives on how emerging assistive technologies could augment accounting roles in the future.

Potential topics of discussion

  • Impact of generative AI on fraud risk and how controls need to adapt
  • IT resilience and cybersecurity
  • Making improvements in efficiency or service delivery using technology tools (AI-powered or otherwise)
  • AI and related technologies - ethical data use, transparency, and professional responsibility.
  • Emerging approaches to data and AI policies.
  • AI adoption in accounting firms – should it replace junior roles
