This webinar outlines the circumstances under which supplies can be classified as either single or multiple supplies for VAT purposes.

About the speakers

Edd Thompson 
Edd Thompson is a specialist VAT trainer and VAT adviser. He is both a chartered tax adviser (CTA) and chartered accountant (ACA). Edd was previously Head of Indirect Taxes for Tolley, a leading provider of tax research in the UK. He trained in VAT with a top 10 accountancy practice and returned to the world of VAT practice following his time at Tolley. He has also been seconded to the in-house VAT function of a large North American head quartered bank. He now runs his own VAT training business.

Edd has taught on both ATT and CTA qualifications and has lectured for professional bodies. He has written for many of the leading VAT and tax publications including De Voil Indirect Tax Service, Tolley’s Value Added Tax, Tax Journal, Taxation Magazine and Tax Adviser.

Ed joined the Tax Faculty in June 2022 as a technical manager focussing on VAT and duties, as well as other indirect taxes.

Ed qualified as a chartered tax adviser in 2017, specialising in indirect taxes, and also has qualifications in customs duties and tax technology. He was previously a senior manager in the VAT team at BDO, where he worked for more than seven years.

Ed manages the ICAEW's VAT Committee (including its Duties Subcommittee), and the Technical and Oversight Committee. He also sits on HMRC's Joint VAT Consultative Committee and Joint Customs Consultative Committee.

CPD hours

ICAEW's revised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Regulations bring in new CPD requirements. This includes a minimum number of hours and an ethics requirement. Attending this webinar could contribute up to 1hr of verifiable CPD, providing you can demonstrate that the content is relevant to your role.
