Event Information

The manufacturing sector is a cornerstone of the South West, accounting for over 7.5% of the UK’s total output and is the UK’s fourth-largest region in terms of gross value add (GVA). With 236,000 regional jobs, the industry’s success is fundamental to our economic stability. This virtual forum provides a dedicated space for ICAEW members to connect, share expertise, and address the unique challenges facing manufacturing today. Whether you are a business owner, a finance director, or a strategic lead, this group puts you at the heart of the regional network.*

Why Attend?

In an era of shifting budgets and supply chain volatility, the role of the Chartered Accountant is more critical than ever. This group moves beyond theory to offer:

  • Confidential peer support | All discussions are strictly confidential, allowing for open dialogue and honest advice on sensitive business issues.

  • A member-led agenda | There is no rigid structure; the conversation is driven by the delegates. You are encouraged to bring your own ideas and help shape the topics for future sessions.

  • Cross-sector connectivity | Engage with professionals across the entire manufacturing ecosystem, from transport equipment (25.8% of regional manufacturing output) to food and drink (11%) and electronics (9.6%).

Key Discussion Topics

While the agenda remains flexible, recent sessions have explored:

  • Finance and forecasting | Access to capital and the implications of the Autumn 2025 Budget on 2026 planning.

  • Risk management | Deep dives into cyber security, company fraud, and supply chain resilience.

  • Operational excellence | Staffing challenges, salary benchmarking, and union liaison.

  • The ESG transition | Practical approaches to ESG reporting within a manufacturing context.

Who Should Attend?

We welcome all members working within or supporting the South West manufacturing sector, regardless of seniority:

  • Industry leaders | Key decision-makers, managing directors, and non-executive directors (NEDs).

  • Finance and operations | Members in both financial and non-financial roles across the organisation.

  • The supply chain | Professionals in logistics, packaging, raw materials, utilities, and labour services.
