Event Information 

This event provides a strategic forum for professionals to connect with peers, share insight, and engage in informed discussion on regional economic priorities.
 
Hosted by ICAEW, the session will focus on the Professional and Business Services Sector Plan and its relevance to West Yorkshire. It will provide an opportunity to examine the role of the public and professional services sectors, and to explore how local professional expertise can contribute to the delivery and impact of the plan.
 
The discussion will be led by Iain Wright, Chief Policy and Communications Officer at ICAEW and Co‑Chair of the Professional and Business Services Council (PBSC), who will provide an update on the Sector Plan and help frame a facilitated conversation on the contribution of professional services within the regional business landscape.

About the speaker

Iain Wright | Chief Policy and Communications Officer

Iain oversees ICAEW's advocacy and public affairs work. He trained as a Chartered Accountant at Deloitte and Touche, before being elected as the Member of Parliament for Hartlepool in 2004. Iain went on to serve as a Minister in both the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Department for Children, Schools and Families. Later, he became Chair of Parliament’s Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Select Committee, where he led high profile inquiries into the sale of BHS and working practices at Sports Direct.
