Event information

Spreadsheets are core tools for accountants and finance professionals across all sectors. Yet there is no consistent or widely adopted approach for individuals and organisations to assess spreadsheet proficiency or understand what “good” looks like in different roles and organisations.

To address this challenge, we invite you to the launch of our refreshed Spreadsheet Competency Framework, part of the ICAEW Excel Community’s industry-leading thought leadership.

The new framework has been completely redesigned, reflecting the changing ways in which we use spreadsheets across a range of finance, accounting, and audit-related roles. It provides a clear, structured approach to assessing spreadsheet competency for individuals and across organisations.

The launch event will kick off with an introduction to the refreshed framework, to explain how it has evolved, and explore how it can be applied in practice. Find out why a common language of spreadsheet competency matters more than ever, and how our new framework acknowledges the differing skills required in a wide range of Excel-related roles and responsibilities.

There will also be a chance to learn more about the competitive side of Excel with experts joining us to share more about how everyday spreadsheet use comes alive in Excel e-sport competitions around the world.

Connect with like‑minded peers and discuss how spreadsheet competency is changing across the profession.

Key benefits

  1. Explore the refreshed ICAEW Spreadsheet Competency Framework and learn how it serves as a benchmark for competency in the use of spreadsheets in accounting and finance.
  2. Dive into the world of competitive Excel e-sports, and how the key principles of e-sports can be applied to everyday use of Excel.
  3. Connect with the experts behind the refreshed competency framework and network with other Excel enthusiasts to get to know your community.
