The ‘Back to Basics’ series continues with a practical webinar that will introduce different techniques to transform extracted data to provide valuable financial and business insights.

Aimed at beginners and those who want a hands-on refresher, it will cover a range of data analytic techniques available to accounting and finance professionals. Looking at accessible, easy-to-use capabilities in Power Query, as well as exploring the role of Gen AI tools such as Copilot, the webinar will also touch on how a robust, structured approach to data transformation can increase automation and reduce manual effort.

Vineet Jain, Digital & AI leader at Tata Consultancy Services and ICAEW Council Member, will guide attendees through real-life scenarios and examples of how data extracted from finance and business systems can be transformed into usable data for business and actionable insights. Vineet will also introduce how Gen AI and Copilot can be used to make this process easier.

By the end of the session, participants will understand how to apply different techniques to transform raw data into structured, insight-ready information.

About the speakers

Vineet Jain, Digital & AI leader at Tata Consultancy Services and ICAEW Council Member
Vineet Jain is a finance-technology leader with over 24 years’ experience spanning finance, accounting, audit, and digital transformation. He is a Chartered Accountant and a member of both ICAEW (UK) and ICAI (India). Currently, Vineet works at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in the UK, part of the Tata Group, which operates in 150+ countries and is widely recognised for its commitment to social responsibility and community initiatives. Prior to joining TCS, Vineet held senior roles at Tech giant-IBM, BIG 4 firms-Ernst & Young & Deloitte Consulting: Consulting Firm -McKinsey & Co. Vineet’s expertise bridges technology and finance, with a strong focus on how data, artificial intelligence and digital innovation are transforming business and society. His contributions have been recognised with the Distinguished Leadership Award at the UK Parliament.

Ian Pay, Head of Data Analytics and Tech, ICAEW (Chair)
Ian joined ICAEW in March 2022, looking at the role that analytics and technology solutions play in the profession, and supporting ICAEW’s members in their exploration and development of knowledge around technology. Prior to this, Ian worked for over 10 years at PwC in Data Analytics, specialising in External Audit and Data Acquisition and developing robust data transformation processes. Ian is passionate about digital upskilling, and has previously trained as a secondary school teacher and a musician.

CPD hours
