Event information

The webinar will explore how to build and reinforce professional behaviours in students by bringing together insights from sixth form leaders, universities, training providers, and employers. It will unpack the gaps, expectations, and practical strategies that help students transition confidently from education into the workplace.

About the speakers

Mohammed Seedat, Teacher of Accounting, Finance and Mathematics
Mohammed has built a diverse and accomplished career bridging the worlds of finance and education. He holds a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance, a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting, and is a former member of ACCA. Before moving into education full-time, he served as a Finance Lead for the NHS, gaining valuable operational and strategic financial experience. He holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and later earned an MA in Education Practice.

Sarah Wakefield, Tutor and Level 7 Programme Lead
Sarah trained as an auditor and became ICAEW qualified in a big 4 firm. She has also worked as an internal audit manager for a global media group. She has worked at First Intuition for over 14 years where she leads the level 7 apprenticeship programme and specialise in accounting, financial reporting, and audit papers.

Jack Smith, Early Careers Development Manager, RSM
Jack joined RSM as a graduate, becoming ICAEW qualified whilst working as an auditor. After qualifying, Jack worked within RSMs technical audit training team, delivering audit, financial reporting and professional development training to students. His current role sees Jack manage RSMs professional qualifications and apprenticeships, supporting students throughout their studies through to qualification.
Helen Scott FCA, senior lecturer in Accounting at the University of Liverpool.
As part of her role, she is the ICAEW Strategic Partner degree lead and have a keen interest in student experience and employability. She works with students, employers and colleagues to deliver employability and skills development embedded into the curriculum.

Session chair: Toby York, Founder, Accounting Cafe
Toby is a chartered accountant with board-level experience in the for-profit and non-profit sectors. He is the Research & Development director at Wealthvox. This training company owns and licenses the Colour Accounting Learning System for use in financial education workshops in commercial and academic settings. In 2021, he founded Accounting Cafe, a community for accounting educators and learners. Accounting Cafe provides resources, videos, courses, seminars and workshops, and a place for discussion and debate.

CPD hours

ICAEW's Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Regulations require a minimum number of hours and an ethics requirement. Attending this event could contribute up to 1hr of verifiable CPD, providing you can demonstrate that the content is relevant to your role.
