About the speakers

Robert Lloyd Griffiths OBE | ICAEW Wales Director

Robert Lloyd Griffiths OBE is ICAEW’s Director for Wales and he chairs the Wales Productivity Forum. He holds several non-executive and advisory positions and, following an early career in Marketing and Communications, was previously the National Director for the IoD in Wales. He has chaired a number of Welsh government Task and Finish Groups and Reviews and is Chair of The Duke of Edinburgh Awards Business Advisory Group in Wales. He has a degree in Banking and Finance from Cardiff Business School, is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing and was awarded his OBE in the 2014 Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to the economy and voluntary services in Wales.

Carol Warburton | Group M&A Compliance Director | Azets

A Cardiff girl born and bred, I moved to Birmingham to train, working for the Big 4 in audit and assurance before moving back to Wales in 2000. I have broad business experience and before I took a Group role in Azets in 2020, having advised businesses across a wide spectrum of services and industries in an independent firm prior to it's acquisition in 2017.

My career has been entirely practice based. My career path has enabled me to acquire audit and regulatory compliance specialisms and I was (until 2025) Audit Compliance Principal for Azets, as well as Azets Group M & A Compliance Director and UK Head of Audit and UK Head of Regulatory Compliance (until 2024). I now lead the Regulatory and Compliance Function within the Group M & A function of Azets, covering UK, Ireland and Europe.

I have been heavily involved in Welsh business life and for many years, simultaneously involved with ICAEW in various capacities. I have been a member of the South Wales district society (now Wales Network Board, I am now a member of the Board) for over 17 years and was the Society President in 2015. I was the Support Member (Practice) for Wales for 15 years. This was a role that I undertook until June 2024 and in which I hope to have made a difference by assisting ICAEW members in difficulty find a route through their issue – be they professional or private.

I am the ICAEW Council Member for Wales representing the views of the membership in Wales directly into the heart of ICAEW Governance structures.

I have one adult son (a Welsh speaker) and have been married for 34 years. My interests include Steam traction engines and vintage machinery and vehicles. I learned Welsh in the early 2000s and worked through the medium for many years but am now a lapsed speaker!

Katherine Broadhurst | Partner | Azets

Katherine qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2008 and became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 2019.

Katherine leads Azets’ Corporate Finance Advisory services across Wales and South West and has more than 20 years of experience in supporting owner managed businesses with the full range of corporate finance requirements, including providing advisory support and deal management services to a wide range of clients. Katherine was named a Global Top 50 Woman in Accounting in 2024 and Wales Insider Dealmaker of the Year in 2022.

Katherine’s legal background provides her with a broader view of transactions and she is passionate about providing SMEs with value added advice in a straight forward manner, bridging the gap between the different parties and advisors involved.

David Staziker | Chief Financial Officer | Development Bank Wales

David leads the internal finance team, sits on the Investment Committee and is a Non-Executive Director of the Pobl Linc Group and Chair of their Investment Committee.

He joined Finance Wales in 2002 and held a number of management roles before being appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2018. He previously worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Gambit Corporate Finance.

David has a degree and PhD in applied mathematics, is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and also holds their corporate finance qualification.
