About the speakers

Joanne Gregory, Senior Manager – Audit & Assurance and Compliance Publications, Mercia
Jo joined Mercia in February 2020, having spent over 20 years in practice gaining valuable practical accounting and auditing experience. Jo is ACCA qualified and has mainly worked in smaller practices based in the East Midlands utilising the Mercia Methodology. Since the start of 2024, Jo has been responsible for Mercia’s publications products which mainly consist of manuals.

Franki Hackett, Director, Head of Audit AI, Digital Audit Team, Grant Thornton
Franki Hackett is Head of Audit AI at Grant Thornton UK, specialising in the intersection of audit, data science and emerging technologies. An ACA-qualified professional, she leads on the application of AI within audit and is an active voice on ethics and technology in professional services. Franki also chairs ICAEW’s Data Analytics Community Group and sits on the ICAEW Ethics Advisory Committee.

Ramana McConnon, Head of Assurance Technology, FRC
Ramana is Head of Assurance Technology at the FRC, leading the policy and technical work in respect of technology in audit and assurance, including the development of the FRC’s 2026 Generative and Agentic AI Guidance and 2025 AI in the Audit Guidance. He chairs the FRC’s Audit Technology Working group and is a member of IAASB and IESBA technology expert reference groups.

Previously, he oversaw the creation of the FRC Audit & Assurance Sandbox and led FRC projects on professional judgement, ethics and sustainability assurance. Prior to working at the FRC, Ramana spent several years in audit at a Big 4 firm.

 

Bani Lamba, Data Analytics & Tech Manager, ICAEW
Bani is an ACA-qualified technology leader at ICAEW, specialising in AI, data analytics and cloud technologies. She leads ICAEW’s Excel and Data Analytics communities, supporting over 45,000 members, and focuses on helping firms adopt emerging technologies through practical guidance and insight.

Ian Pay, Head of Data Anayltics and Tech, ICAEW
Ian leads ICAEW’s work on data analytics, technology and digital capability, supporting both internal teams and the wider profession in understanding and adopting data-driven approaches.
Ian has many years’ experience in data analytics, with strong technical expertise including SQL, Power BI and Python.
