Foundation Course for Expert Witnesses (2 Day Course)

This course is an intensive introduction to both the theory and more practical aspects of being an Expert Witness. The course is also suitable for the Expert that is about to undertake a large case as this is the perfect opportunity to refresh yourself and make sure you are up-to-date before you start.

The course concentrates on the Expert's Report and the Role & Responsibilities of the Expert with a brief introduction into the Procedure Rules (CPR &CrPR) and preparation for going into court.

Understanding Law & Procedure

A one day course designed to give the Expert Witness a grounding in the Law and Court Procedures in England and Wales. This course is both an essential guide for the new expert before undertaking your first appointment and a useful refresher for the more experienced practitioner.

An Expert Witness can sometimes feel like a ‘fish out of water’ when entering the legal arena. This course will give you:

  • a working knowledge of the structure of the legal system in which you will be working
  • an outline of some of the differences between the basis of law both within the UK and in other jurisdictions
  • an understanding of the basis of the Procedure Rules (eg CPR, CrimPR and FPR) that you must comply with if you are instructed as an Expert in England & Wales.

Into Court

This course is designed to give you the knowledge and experience of being in court. You will be crossed-examining by a practising Barrister in a protected environment with a chance to learn from your mistakes, as well as to improve your technique before you go into the box.

This course is suitable as both an introduction to the art of success and survival in court and as a refresher for the experienced.

The course design and subject matter is such that many do attend it more than once:

  • After the Foundation Course to get a feel for the process and experience what is required and what can go wrong
  • Before attending court as a refresher and preparation for appearing ‘in the box’

Expert Witness - Essential Update

Keeping up to date with current practices is essential but often time consuming work.

Reporting Writing Masterclass

This Advanced course is designed for Experts with significant experience of writing expert witness reports (whether Civil, Criminal or Family).

This is a practically based course with a strictly limited number of participants focussed on fine tuning and enhancing your existing skills and techniques and is only open to experienced experts. Sharing best and bad practice in Expert Report writing and making certain our Report does not let you (and the client - and the court) down.

Expert Determination Training (2 Day Course) 

This is a two day technical course for experienced experts which will deal with all you need to know to get started and run and Expert determination.

Although experts instinctively feel that as experts they would have no problems with determination, the reality is rather different - technical/professional expertise alone is not sufficient. There are many pitfalls which need to be avoided and procedures and doctrines which must be followed.

Adding Expert determination to your skillset can open up new work and income streams. Learn how to ‘do it right’ and take advantage of the new opportunities.
